Press Relase: hde - the Hydroform specialists

All Topics Whenever there is discussion among the experts and now more and more frequently among users about hydroforming and competent and reliable mass production suppliers of hydroformed components, the name of hde Metallwerk GmbH in Menden is mentioned.

As "Hidden Champion" hde has acquired during the last 30 years its reputation as the technological market leader and world wide as one of the largest (many say even the largest) producer of hydroformed components of small and medium range dimensions from almost all known materials.

Whilst OEMs in the automobile industry and large suppliers producing hydroformed parts have often specialised in particular components or "similar" product groups, which can then be supplied in large numbers by automated production lines, hde covers a wide and extensive spectrum of very different components for a most varied range of uses and groups of customers.

Numbers and Facts
  • Annual turnover 20 million Euros

  • More than 5 million hydroformed components per annum

  • 180 employees (of which 40 work in development and design)

  • 13 hydroforming presses ranging from 2000 up to 15000 kN

  • CNC- bending machines , conventional bending equipment

  • Bending presses as well as additional mechanical and hydraulic preforming equipment.

  • Sawing, grinding, deburring and washing equipment.

  • 2 continuous annealing furnaces , 1 batch annealing furnace

  • Welding and brazing technology

  • Certification to VDA 6.1

  • The main customers for hde products are as follows: automobile and component supply industry (approx. 65%), plumbing industry (approx 20%), machine and vessel construction, design orientated industries as well as air and space technology.

Consequently hde has further developed in the past years multistage hydroform processes with intermediate annealing.

It is not only a case of developing an additional variation in hydroform technology but rather to bring about a co-ordinated and optimised combination of similar or different components to arrive at the most economic production of such parts. As a result hydroforming can be utilised in other areas and additional potential can be developed by taking into account practical innovations and economic uses.

A visit to hde Metallwerk in Menden or to EuroBLECH will convince you of the success, which has been achieved.
